ECIR - European Conference on Information Retrieval

The 49th European Conference on Information Retrieval (ECIR 2027) is Europe's premier forum for cutting-edge research in Information Retrieval (IR). ECIR 2027 brings together researchers, practitioners, and industry experts, and provides a platform for sharing new, unpublished, and innovative research shaping the future of IR. ECIR 2027 will take place in-person from 21-25 March 2027, at Southampton Football Club, Southampton, England, UK. The programme will be complemented by tutorials on Sunday, 21 March, followed by a dedicated workshop day on Thursday, 25 March.

The 48th European Conference on Information Retrieval (ECIR 2026) took place in Delft, The Netherlands, from 29 March to 2 April 2026. The programme began on Sunday, 29 March at TU Delft (Aula Conference Centre), featuring tutorials, the doctoral consortium, and a workshop. The main conference was held from 30 March to 1 April at Lijm & Cultuur, followed by a dedicated workshop and industry day on 2 April at the same venue. The Keith van Rijsbergen Award 2026 was presented to Prof. Tetsuya Sakai for pioneering contributions to the evaluation of information retrieval systems and lasting impact on experimental methodology in the field. Conference participants also had the opportunity to attend 'Willem van Oranje – De Musical' at the Prinsentheater in Delft on Wednesday or Thursday evening.

ECIR 2025 will be held as a physical (in-person) conference from the 06th to the 10th of April 2025 in Lucca, Italy. The conference includes a main program, workshops, tutorials, doctoral consortium, industry day, IR4GOOD track, and a collab-a-thon.
