MetaCRiSP
The MetaCRiSP Workshop aims to create a dedicated venue for metascience, philosophy of science, and critical reflections of the research practices and evaluation processes that shape the security and privacy field. It focuses on how researchers conduct research, review, and accept research works, inviting the security and privacy community to reflect on how research is conducted, evaluated, and sustained. The workshop covers evaluation processes such as peer review, artifact evaluation, formalized ethics and open science reviews, and 'Science of Security' community norms, as well as meta-research on research practices including methodological choices, reproducibility, replicability, artifact/data/code availability, and ethical considerations in study design.

1st Workshop on Metascience and Critical Reflections in Security & Privacy (MetaCRiSP 2026), co-located with the 47th IEEE Security and Privacy (S&P) Symposium. The workshop invites the security and privacy community to take a reflective pause on how research is conducted, evaluated, and sustained, examining evolving peer-review practices such as rolling review models, meta-reviews for reviewer accountability, and prior-review history requests. The workshop outcome will include proceedings and a MetaCRiSP Challenges 2026 report documenting open problems, key takeaways, and a community call-to-action.
